Today
After the 3:51 p.m. launch, the crew will spend the first day in orbit testing systems and examining photographs for any damage suffered during the ascent.
Thursday
Much of the day will be devoted to checking out the 50-
foot robot arm, with its attached camera and laser. The new system is designed to scan the vehicle for damage.
Friday
The shuttle will approach the International Space Station and show its belly to station astronauts, who will photograph its thermal tiles. The shuttle will dock with the station.
Saturday
The crew will move the Multipurpose Logistics Module from the payload bay to the station.
Sunday
Astronauts will don spacesuits and go outside the orbiter to test new repair methods.
Monday
More spacewalks will be done, and supplies will be moved to the space station.
Tuesday
Astronauts will replace a faulty gyroscope on the station.
July 20
Material will be moved from the station to the shuttle, including 5,000 pounds of garbage. Both crews take time to relax.
July 21
A half-ton tool kit will be moved from the shuttle to the station.
July 22
Science experiments from the station will be placed in the cargo bay. They will be analyzed in labs on Earth upon return.
July 23
Shuttle will detach from the station.
July 24
Astronauts will spend the day readying Discovery for the trip home.
July 25
Re-entry and landing at Kennedy Space Center.
